Jericho – Exploring The Oldest City in The World

Jericho, located in the West Bank near the Jordan River, holds the title of the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world . Archaeologists estimate that human settlement in Jericho began around 9000 BCE , making the city over 11,000 years old . This ancient city has witnessed the rise and fall of many civilizations and still remains inhabited today. Jericho's location played a vital role in its early development. Positioned near the Jordan River and surrounded by fertile plains, it provided easy access to water and food resources. Early settlers learned to farm wheat, barley, and lentils, which allowed them to shift from a nomadic lifestyle to a settled way of life.
